Want my Nissan Frontier to pull a travel trailer

Since we got married, my wife and I have planned to travel across the country. Is it possible for a Nissan Frontier to pull a trailer without the OD turning on?

I heard that a weight distribution hitch is very helpful

Has anyone here ever done this before?

Haven't done this before but i know a bunch of people that did it and yes, you can pull a trailer without turning the OD on, but i would recommend to leave it on highways just for a better fuel economy as long as the truck is not shifting constantly.

I think it's best to turn off the overdrive when towing, especially heavier loads or going uphill. This helps to reduce strain on the transmissio. Check your owner's manual for recommendations!

Absolutely, the Frontier is capable of towing. Using a weight distribution hitch can really assist with control. If you want to avoid the overdrive kicking in while you're towing, just hit the OD button. Don't forget to check the manual for additional towing tips

I've towed with my Frontier, and it performs well with the overdrive off, particularly on inclines. Using a weight distribution hitch really helped with stabiltiy and reduced rear sag. If you're hauling a heavy load for an extended journey, I'd absolutely reccommend using one

Using a weight distribution hitch is definitely right, especially with heavier trailers. Many owners have successfully done cross-country trips this way, make sure though to stay within the truck's towing limits and keep an eye on transmission temps
