My son just bought his first car, it's a used car, but he really likes it. He's now working on his 2000 Nissan Frontier V6 with VG33ER engine bcs it has hit a snag.

He's really trying to learn the ropes with this Nissan and vehicle repairs, which is great to see!

The problem is a P0430 code that keeps coming back after he clears it (using the accelerator pedal sequence). He wants to do a proper diagnosis with the service manual.
looking into getting a CONSULT-II equivalent and found Nissan DataScan NDS II now.

He's about to buy it, but wanted to get some real world feedback first.

The VG33ER isn't officially listed, but he figures since it's OBDII, it should connect.
Does anyone here use NDS II with a similar setup? What do you think?

Oooh, I love that he's diving in and learning hands-on. I previously used NDS II on an older Nissan and it worked fine... maybe as long as the ECU works well with OBDII? Let me be upfront, it might not give full CONSULT-level access, but for reading codes and live data, it's pretty ok for the price.

Man, I love seeing young folks dive into wrenching, it's how I learned too. That P0430 can be stubborn. I'd say NDS II might work, but double-check cable compatibility...it's easy to overlook
