Nissan Frontier SE front corner damage

Hey everyone, my brother just had a pretty bad day. He was driving his 2008 Nissan Frontier SE and got hit on the driver's side corner by an 18 wheeler.
He was looking at the damage, and he found something really concerning behind the front bumper.

It looks like a crack or a detached weld in the chassis. is this kind of damage serious? is it affecting the car's performance?
Any help or advice would be a huge relief right now.

Any crack or detached weld in the chassis can compromise the structural integrity of the truck, especially after a collision with something as heavy as an 18 wheeler. Even if it drives fine now, it could be unsafe in another impact or put extra stress on other components.
