Yeah, that's fair, I torqued the five bolts down properly, but I'll go ahead and tap the last hole soon, it is better to be safe and follow spec5 bolts should be pretty secure, especially if they're twisted down correctly. but i think it's always best practice to have all the hardware installed as intended by the manufacturer.
Yep, or use a slightly larger bolt to ensure full security, especially since the hitch will see vibrations and side loads while driving.Better safe than sorry my guy, If the hitch is mostly secure with 5 bolts and the 6th hole just needs a tap to clear threads, its most probably fine for light loads like 2 - 3 bikes under 200 pounds. I'd still recommend tapping that hole and installing the last bolt to ensure maximum force and safety, especially on a hitch.
