a friend of mine has a 2018 frontier with a Hopkins controller and he's doing me a favor of letting me try it before I buy one but I'm running into a problem. The connector matches, but it doesn't work. Am I doing something wrong?

what year is your frontier? it should be compatible with both vehicles if they're from the same gen

It might be an issue with the Frontier's factory brake controller wiring,some of them come with the pins arranged incorrectly right from the factory. Even if the connector seems to fit, it's possible that the wires are mixed up. I'd reccommend checking the wiring diagram or testing for voltage at the pins while braking
