cheap overland boxes alternative?

I'm trying to make the most of the cargo space on my 2021 Frontier Pro-4X, and I've been thinking of getting those overland boxes. It seems to be a good solution to organize all our things and gear but there's no way I'm dropping that kind of money on a plastic box. I'm hoping to find some cheaper alternatives, maybe some surplus military boxes or something similar.

Any tips on where to look or what brands might be more budget-friendly? I'm hoping to find something that can handle a tent and a bunch of other gear without taking up my entire bed space. Thanks in advance.

It all depends on what you're willing to pay and how big of a boxes you want to have. A buddy of mine has a few 20 MM Ammo Cans and is pretty happy with them. Durable, weatherproof, I think, and he's been using them for years with no problems.

Are you looking for something fully weatherproof, or would you be fine with rugged but non-sealed boxes if it means saving cash?
